In adidas v. Payless, the jury awarded damages, an accounting for profits and punitive damages totaling $304.7 million, which is by far and away  the largest verdict ever in a trademark case.  Counsel for adidas  will identify the key factual and legal issues in the case, as well as the pre-trial and trial strategies that played a role in this historic verdict.

Bill Brewster and Charlie Henn were lead trial counsel for adidas in the adidas v. Payless trademark infringement dispute that resulted in the largest known trademark infringement verdict in U.S. history.  They are both partners in the Intellectual Property group of Kilpatrick Stockton LLP in Atlanta, Georgia.

Bill Brewster: has spent the past 20 years providing client counseling and litigating in the fields of trademark, false advertising, and unfair competition, as well as copyright, trade secrets, and restrictive covenants.  Mr. Brewster is widely recognized as one of the top IP lawyers in the country.  Since 1997, he has been listed in Best Lawyers in America® for Intellectual Property, and now he is also listed in Advertising Law.  In 2002, IP Worldwide featured him among "The Magnificent Seven: IP's Best Young Trial Lawyers."  He also has been listed since its inception in Chambers USA: America's Leading Business Lawyers for Intellectual Property Law.  He is among the "astounding seven lawyers from Kilpatrick Stockton" selected and featured in the trademark section of the 2007 Who'sWhoLegal, one of five KS IP lawyers listed in the 2007 PLC WhichLawyer?
